Requirements:  

Pre-requisite: access to computer and internet for homework assignments, revisions, assessments.  

Concessions: Students with a health care card or concession card in the family are required to provide a copy of the card.  The concession rate cannot be claimed by a third party.

Costs: Longbeach PLACE annual membership fee of $20 applies.  Course costs include course fees, general service fees and material costs of $25 for each block of units.  

Payments: For those who qualify for a place in class, a deposit of $60 will be accepted to reserve a place until full fees are due (please speak to programming staff if you require an instalment payment plan).

Resources: Students enrolled in Certificate I and Certificate II in Information Technology are required to purchase a manual for $66 (inc GST).

Fees:  To be eligible for our government funded training places, you must be a permanent Australian resident/citizen, if not please check our fee-for service prices.  Class fees for government funded training have been set in accordance with the Ministerial Directions on Fees and Charges under the Victorian Skills Reform.  Amenities fees and the cost of students requirements have been included in course costs.

Support: To assist students in their learning, study group time is available and open access is available at no cost for those enrolled in class.

This course consists of all units needed to gain the full Certificate I in Information Technology ICA10105.  An ideal way to become accredited in computer usage.  Recognised standard for all job seekers in office environment.  Covers competencies in Personal Computing, Word Processing, Internet/Email, Spreadsheets, Database and Presentations.  Prerequisites: Access to computer and internet for assessment and homework.  Students are required to purchase a manual.  Daytime classes are held during school hours 9.30 am - 3 pm.  No classes on school holidays.

To gain the full Certificate I in Information Technology (ICA10105) students must successfully complete the requirements of the following 6 units of competency:

ICAU1128B Operate a personal computer
ICAU1129B Operate a word processing application
ICAU1133B Send and retrieve information over the internet using browsers and email
ICAU1130B Operate a spreadsheet application
ICAU1131B Operate a database application
ICAU1132B Operate a presentation package

  This course allows you to gain your Cert I in IT at the same time as completing a Certificate II level qualification.  The program covers all the basics at the Certificate I level, plus the further units needed to complete the Certificate II.  Includes: using advanced applications of MS Office, HTML coding for web pages, connecting and operating hardware, capturing and manipulating digital images, optimising an operating system, communicating, OH&S and working in an IT environment. 

Prerequisite: Access to computer for assessment and homework.  Students are required to purchase a manual.  Daytime classes are held during school hours 9.30 am - 3 pm.  No classes on school holidays.

This course is suitable for those who have completed their Cert. I in IT.

* Certificate II in Information Technology ICA20105
* Certificate II in Business BSB20107

We have developed a schedule which allows students to work on one, two or three qualifications at the same time.  You can save time and money completing units common to these qualifications and gain 2 or 3 qualifications.  By successfully completing all assessment tasks and homework, you will be credited with units from both Information Technology and Business studies.

If you completed your Certificate I in Information Technology with us in 2009/10, you can complete either Cert II in Info. Tech. or Cert II in Business (or both).  Your class fees will be reduced accordingly.
